Production Standards
Coding
  • HyperText Markup Language (HTML) will be valid and standard compliant.
  • All material will be accessible to the disabled, in particular, they will be compliant with section 508 guidelines.
  • The code for the site will be created in Notepad, Sothink and/or Dreamweaver.
  • All html tags in the coding will be expressed in all lower case letters and saved as .shtml
  • All file names will be descriptive of what they are, in lowercase, with an underscore between words.
    (i.e.: bulletin_board.shtml = bulletin board and it is an .shtml file)
  • Alt tags will be used on all images.
  • Comments will be included in the coding, when needed, to assist in future updating of the site.
  • Stylesheets will be used for visual presentation of the site.
Folders
  • All of the site's folders will be housed within a root folder titled "culinary" for Culinary Arts Program
  • All folder names will be in lower case and have no spaces or extensions.
  • The folders of the site will be laid out as follows:
culinary folder:
  • This is the root folder that will hold the .shtml pages and all of the other folders.
images folder:
  • Holds the files that make up the design elements for the site. The image files will end with the file extensions .gif or .jpeg. Images will be named with appropriate descriptions, in all lowercase letters, with an underscore between words.
photos folder:
  • Holds the photographic images that are used by the random image generator.
calendarscript folder:
  • Holds programming script pages used for the culinary arts calendar.
pdf folder:
  • Holds all pdf files.
